[00:05] <durandal_1707> nice, chained oggs are not supported
[00:17] <durandal_1707> does ffmpeg correctly mux flac in mov?
[00:21] <Daemon404> .... sincewhen does mov even support flac?
[00:22] <durandal_1707> ehehe, https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/5703
[00:22] <durandal_1707> since ffmpeg
[00:23] Action: Daemon404 s/https/http/
[00:23] <Daemon404> im not sure supporting crap like that is a very good idea
[00:24] <kierank> that's retarded
[00:24] <j-b> beyond that
[00:24] <j-b> completly stupid
[00:24] <durandal_1707> than do not allow muxing random codec into mov
[00:25] <kierank> i mean if flac was registered as allowed in mov then i guess it would be acceptable
[00:25] <kierank> but making it work for fun is a bit silly
[00:25] <durandal_1707> there is no flac in isom.c
[00:33] <iive> i don't find the idea that bad, as long as the implementation is clean. It probably is the easiest way to pave the way for official flac acceptance.
[00:34] <Daemon404> iive, i object to official flac accemptance
[00:34] <Daemon404> the format and specs are flawed
[00:34] <Daemon404> <.<
[00:34] <iive> then, it is time to write version2.
[00:35] <durandal_1707> but ms[241][172 is not right fourcc/whatever
[00:35] <durandal_1707> copy one from riff?
[00:35] <durandal_1707> btw, is flac allowed in avi?
[00:35] <Daemon404> how about you proply fail
[00:35] <Daemon404> and dont let them mux it in teh first place
[00:36] <durandal_1707> qt specifications have partial tables
[00:37] <Daemon404> hmm?
[00:39] <durandal_1707> image/audio commpression formats and associated "compression type" : cvid,jpeg,smc,rle,...
[00:40] <Daemon404> im not sure where this is located, and hpw it's relevant
[00:40] <Daemon404> (to flac)
[00:41] <durandal_1707> http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=Mov
[00:45] <kierank> there is an official list of formats allowed in mov
[00:45] <kierank> forget where
[00:48] <ffmpeguser> http://mango.blender.org/production/mango-synopsis/#comment-540
[00:53] <gnafu> XD
[00:53] <gnafu> kierank: If you find a link, I'd love to have it. I was trying to find something like that the other day :-P.
[00:55] <michaelni> btw, politics aside, ffplay plays the flac in mov fine
[01:13] <durandal_1707> people still use mencoder
[01:16] <JEEB> I think there was a system for you to specify your own subformat or whatever in mov/iso media? That would in theory make FLAC in it not be nonstandard >_>
[01:16] <iive> yeh, it barely works, and yet, it is still one of the easiest programs to work with.
[01:16] <JEEB> although I don't even remember the name of the site that lists those registered things
[01:28] <durandal_1707> "In my system (through my ears and with my brain) ape sounds better than flac and almost indistinguishable compared to wav: ..."
[01:30] <gnafu> wat
[01:31] <durandal_1707> every time i visit HA i read something stupid
[01:36] <gnafu> "If it hurts, don't do it!"
[01:36] <gnafu> ;D
[01:37] <gnafu> But maybe you're into that sort of thing.
[01:44] <iive> durandal_1707: ape indeed sounds better than flac. I mean... what rimes with flac? ;)
[01:51] <durandal_1707> :)
[01:55] <drv> 8-track?
[01:58] Action: iive explaining the joke. I was talking about the names of the codecs, not the output. The output is binary identical.

[10:19] <Granjow> Good morning! I've been trying to find the reason for the segfault in http://codepad.org/tyEekKMe for hours now but without success. The segfault occurs on line 128 in avcodec_encode_video(), but some symbols already disappear after the sws_scale() (line 89)
[10:20] <Granjow> The file should compile with just the ffmpeg libraries, and is assumed to read frames from a video and export them as PNG.
[10:21] <Granjow> Later I will maybe want to keep them in RAM or scale them or so.
[10:22] <Granjow> But I cannot find the reason for the segfault; imho I've done everything correctly.
