[00:19:59 CET] <pinPoint> does anyone have any insights to how handbrake uses ffmpeg? like the behind the scene information, parameters, etc?
[00:21:22 CET] <pinPoint> oh also furq c_14 TD-Linux I have done some tests that took a couple days. Let me know what you think. http://wideopenbokeh.com/AthenasFall/?p=303
[00:52:45 CET] <who0> Hi guys, merry Xmas ;)
[00:53:04 CET] <waressearcher2> who0: hallo, whe geht's ?
[00:54:10 CET] <who0> sehr gut :)
[00:54:56 CET] <waressearcher2> so süß
[00:55:24 CET] <who0> I'm trying to add a png into and mp4 with ffmpeg (it's too easy with itunes)
[00:56:13 CET] <who0> (ok special hobbie for xmas)
[00:56:24 CET] <poseidon1157> It's wie gehts I believe
[00:56:31 CET] <poseidon1157> whe is phonetic
[00:57:22 CET] <rjp421> how do i make ffmpeg listen on 0.0.0.0:1234 instead of localhost:80 when encoding to mjpeg?
[00:57:57 CET] <who0> I've completely forgot my german lessons ;)
[00:58:41 CET] <poseidon1157> Anyone know how to edit a manifest.xml file to point to local files?
[00:58:53 CET] <poseidon1157> I have moof/dat files that I'd like to reassemble
[00:59:13 CET] <poseidon1157> I keep getting errors from vlc
[00:59:43 CET] <poseidon1157> "File reading failed
[00:59:43 CET] <poseidon1157> VLC could not open the file "<path>/Fragments(video=0)150000(null)0(null)" (No such file or directory)."
[01:00:03 CET] <poseidon1157> Not sure where it's getting 150000 . . . from
[01:01:05 CET] <waressearcher2> so viele Fragen
[01:01:17 CET] <waressearcher2> I habe echt keine Ahnung
[01:02:10 CET] <waressearcher2> Äh, 'tschuldige
[01:09:53 CET] <t4nk896> Asked this question awhile ago, no responce.
[01:09:54 CET] <t4nk896> What should be to blame if the audio through a stream is skipping badly. YTDL-CORE, ffmpeg, or my internet?
[01:49:07 CET] <Fusl> hey everyone, i'm currently trying to switch over from handbrake (osx) to ffmpeg (linux) and try to get the same results as i get on handbrake. for video this is fine, but i'm having issues with aac audio encoding (ffmpeg having worse quality though using the same CBR settings)
[01:49:42 CET] <Fusl> i made the audio streams of both encoding results visible and i can see a large quality difference between handbrake: https://scr.meo.ws/snapshot/2015-12-25-01-46-39-irrOb2oe.png
[01:49:49 CET] <Fusl> and ffmpeg: https://scr.meo.ws/snapshot/2015-12-25-01-45-52-wKDfjafk.png
[01:50:16 CET] <Fusl> the settings i'm using are -i input.mkv -map 0 -t 120 -c:v h264 -vf scale="1280:trunc(ow/a/2)*2" -crf 20 -c:a aac -b:a 256k output.mkv
[01:50:40 CET] <Fusl> ffmpeg version N-77432-gc0f67e1
[02:15:10 CET] <wuqiong> hi, everybody, Merry Christmas
[05:44:28 CET] <TD-Linux> pinPoint, looks pretty reasonable, the results aren't surprising which is good
[05:47:48 CET] <pinPoint> excellent
[06:17:02 CET] <wt> Is it possible to specify all commandline args by a file instead of on the commandline? I would like to prevent my streaming password from being in the ps output.
[06:29:59 CET] <rjp421> how do i make ffmpeg listen on 0.0.0.0:1234 instead of localhost:80 when encoding to mjpeg?
[07:58:52 CET] <roger21> hey
[07:59:09 CET] <roger21> noob question i guess
[07:59:34 CET] <roger21> is it possible to increase the volume of an audio file
[08:00:55 CET] <roger21> without making it overload
[08:01:23 CET] <roger21> like the file is both low and loud
[08:01:52 CET] <roger21> making it les low when it's low but not more louder when it is already loud
[09:40:08 CET] <prelude2004c> happy holidays everyone.. and christmas for those that celebrate it :)
[10:24:22 CET] <Opcode90> i think im must be the only idiot that bout myffmpeg
[10:24:36 CET] <Opcode90> it was harder to understand then the command lines to me
[10:24:48 CET] <Opcode90> bought even
[10:26:02 CET] <tdr> :)
[10:26:10 CET] <Opcode90> give me a good bat file for any given task, and im happy properly named for its task
[10:26:50 CET] <Opcode90> I espescially love ffmpeg for switching containers
[10:27:24 CET] <Opcode90> Its not so bad for cutting and editing peices of a movie or chopping a little here and ther off
[10:29:01 CET] <Opcode90> I did find it a pain that you can cut off black bars i think its right and left but top and bottom you have to re-encode. If i remeber correctly , each time you re-encode theres quality loss even with some of the more lossless codecs
[10:31:10 CET] <Opcode90> I own Pavtools everything they make, i bought, I own winx converters, somehow i still find myself using that silly freemake converter to chop off bars that ffmpeg requires re-encode on.
[10:31:52 CET] <Opcode90> And yeah you have to be a donator to get that ability about 10 bux i think.
[10:33:07 CET] <Opcode90> Crop is a beautiful word, but it involves re-encoding, which i avoid when i can.
[10:35:24 CET] <Opcode90> The only time i like to re-encode is if im useing NeatVideo filter in Sony Vegas or its lesser counter part which i paid for both the Sony one Steam sells for 99 bux with 2 other progs audio related. To clean video up take out granular snow.
[10:35:46 CET] <Opcode90> Some movies they put it in on purpose like Black Swan.
[10:36:29 CET] <Opcode90> I took it out, i have come to have a keen eye for video, i dont like snow even if the director wants it there.
[10:36:49 CET] <Opcode90> Another I can think of is a kind of bbc Movie Awakenings.
[10:37:36 CET] <Opcode90> Also, even the movie War of the Worlds had to much video noise for me,
[10:37:42 CET] <Opcode90> I cleaned it up
[10:37:59 CET] <Opcode90> thats the new one with Tom Cruise.
[10:38:52 CET] <Opcode90> The NeatVideo Filter costs about 99 bux
[10:39:29 CET] <Opcode90> THe cheapest worthwile non mac software is a Sony Editing prog but look at the support list if you are interested.
[10:40:32 CET] <Opcode90> and I think I've been as off topic as i could possibly be.
[10:40:43 CET] <Opcode90> Merry Hannakuh.
[10:40:57 CET] <Opcode90> Past.
[10:43:17 CET] <Opcode90> Even though I feel Christmas is a roman pagan date of old 1000 years of worship, Merry Christmast to those that love and worship Yeshua, Jesus Christ.
[15:47:49 CET] <el_juliano> I have a .opus (audio) and a .mp4 (video only) file and I want to merge them. What is the command to do so?
[15:49:16 CET] <relaxed> ffmpeg -i audio.opus -i video.mp4 -map 0 -map 1 -c copy out.mp4
[15:50:04 CET] <el_juliano> thank you very much :)
[15:50:05 CET] <relaxed> that assumes video.mp4 only contains video. If not, change -map 1 to -map 1:v
[15:50:22 CET] <el_juliano> okay thanks
[15:51:02 CET] <who0> I'm trying to add a png into and mp4 with ffmpeg (it's too easy with itunes)
[15:51:31 CET] <relaxed> cover art?
[15:51:39 CET] <JEEB> el_juliano: opus in mp4 hasn't been standardized (yet) so that copying thing won't gonna fly most probably :P
[15:51:48 CET] <el_juliano> I have a general problem with the command line. What do I do when a file has spaces in its name?
[15:52:10 CET] <relaxed> el_juliano: use quotes
[15:52:20 CET] <relaxed> JEEB: which container does?
[15:52:28 CET] <who0> yep cover art
[15:52:30 CET] <JEEB> matroska kind of does, as well as mpeg-ts
[15:52:35 CET] <el_juliano> JEEB: okay then I will download the audio file in another codec
[15:53:16 CET] <relaxed> change out.mp4 to out.mkv
[15:53:51 CET] <who0> I'm trying .. -i file.png -map 1:0 -c:v:2 png | but no attached_pic
[15:56:48 CET] <el_juliano> relaxed: will the audio codec stay opus and the video codec will be which codec? (when doing "out.mkv")
[15:57:27 CET] <JEEB> if it's still copy then the video and audio formats won't change
[15:57:40 CET] <JEEB> it's just the container that will change
[15:57:46 CET] <el_juliano> ah okay thanks
[15:59:14 CET] <el_juliano> but the thing with the quotation marks because of the spaces in the filenames is a bit confusing to me. when the filename is: file number 6 for example then I must type file number 6 or what?
[15:59:48 CET] <JEEB> it depends on what OS and what terminal you're using :P
[16:00:20 CET] <JEEB> on windows it's generally "" quotes, on linux you can either escape them or use double or single quotes
[16:00:27 CET] <el_juliano> I am using Manjaro (Arch) Linux and the LXTerminal for lxde desktop environment
[16:00:45 CET] <JEEB> check which shell you're using and start learning of it :)
[16:00:53 CET] <el_juliano> escape them? I don't understand
[16:01:17 CET] <relaxed> or use bash's tab completion
[16:01:47 CET] <JEEB> This\ is\ a\ string\ with\ many\ spaces\:P
[16:02:43 CET] <JEEB> anyways, if it's bash there's http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Bash-Beginners-Guide/html/
[16:03:43 CET] <el_juliano> okay thanks. for now I will just change all the spaces to _ with my file manager :p
[16:04:15 CET] <relaxed> el_juliano: http://mywiki.wooledge.org/BashGuide/Practices#Quoting
[16:05:17 CET] <who0> I found some tips for mp3 and covertart / but none for video :(
[16:12:18 CET] <el_juliano> can anyone pleae take a look at that: http://pastebin.com/DighVc5g
[16:13:18 CET] <relaxed> .wmv isn't going to work, use .mkv
[16:13:42 CET] <fritsch> "sudo"?
[16:13:59 CET] <who0> for more power ;)
[16:15:16 CET] <el_juliano> oh I messed up :p I confused wmv and mkv...
[16:15:40 CET] <el_juliano> and sudo because at the end there was something like "operation not permitted" therefore i tried with sudo
[16:18:12 CET] <el_juliano> that worked perfectly thank you very much guys! :)
[16:18:29 CET] <who0> no clues with my cover art ? ;)
[16:19:19 CET] <relaxed> who0: which container are targeting?
[16:19:42 CET] <who0> mp4 (for >ipad)
[16:20:16 CET] <relaxed> I don't think the supports there for it.
[16:22:42 CET] <who0> ;(
[16:24:39 CET] <relaxed> who0: looks like other muxers can, though. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17798709/ffmpeg-how-to-embed-cover-art-image-to-m4a
[16:27:29 CET] <who0> itunes add it, I don't think that is pure magic. There is a new stream with Video:png (and the stream conatain 1 frame)
[16:28:55 CET] <who0> Yep, It's seam to ... I would to use only ffmpeg ;)
[16:31:39 CET] <rjp421> how do i make ffmpeg listen on 0.0.0.0:1234 instead of localhost:80 when encoding to mjpeg?
[16:41:45 CET] <who0> AtomicParsley works fine
[17:35:23 CET] <dusted> Is there a way to get ffmpeg to drop frames when live-streaming, if some condition is met ? (I imagine the input buffer reaching a certain number of frames) ?
[19:10:39 CET] <aiena> how do I convert an mp2 file to mp3
[19:11:43 CET] <JEEB> you generally don't want to, unless you can't play the audio unless it's in that format. because you'd have to re-encode mp2 (lossy) to another lossy format (mp3)
[19:41:09 CET] <aiena> JEEB: true but i think something is wrong with the file likely orrupt
[19:41:16 CET] <aiena> as ffmpeg states invalid data
[19:42:56 CET] <dystopia_> i would go to aac
[19:43:03 CET] <dystopia_> instead of mp3
[19:43:47 CET] <dystopia_> demux it with ffmpeg
[19:43:53 CET] <dystopia_> ffmpeg -i input.whatever -map 0:1 -acodec copy -vn out.mp2
[19:44:07 CET] <dystopia_> then encode with nero's aac encoder, or with qaac encoder
[19:45:12 CET] <dystopia_> qaac64.exe out.mp2 -a 128 --adts -o out.aac
[19:46:25 CET] <dystopia_> then remux audio and encoded video with ffmpeg
[19:46:52 CET] <dystopia_> ffmpeg -i out.aac -i out.mp4 -map_metadata -1 -acodec copy -vcodec copy ffmpeg_out.mp4
[19:47:12 CET] <dystopia_> or .mkv or whatever container you use
[19:48:41 CET] <aiena> huh weird
[19:48:48 CET] <aiena> mplayer can play the file
[19:49:04 CET] <aiena> but ffpmeg reads the file as invalid data
[19:49:15 CET] <dystopia_> ok
[19:49:22 CET] <aiena> what could cause this
[19:49:23 CET] <dystopia_> just encode your video
[19:49:28 CET] <dystopia_> then remux the source audio
[19:49:35 CET] <aiena> its only an audio piece
[19:49:36 CET] <dystopia_> possible the source of your file
[19:49:49 CET] <dystopia_> did you get it from some wierd back haul feed?
[19:49:50 CET] <aiena> wanted to convert it to mp3 because vlc would not play it
[19:54:42 CET] <JEEB> aiena: what does ffmpeg/ffprobe output for it? (in a pastebin, preferably)
[19:57:13 CET] <aiena> http://paste.opensuse.org/view/simple/91982122
[19:57:26 CET] <aiena> but that is on a freinds computer
[19:57:34 CET] <aiena> on my ffmpeg same output
[20:00:32 CET] <JEEB> I thought your issue was with the original file?
[20:05:03 CET] <aiena> yes
[20:05:06 CET] <aiena> I have the same file
[20:05:09 CET] <aiena> same issue
[20:05:14 CET] <aiena> I asked him to give it to me
[20:05:26 CET] <aiena> so i could test it he just migrated from windolws to linux
[20:05:31 CET] <aiena> same error on my pc
[20:05:37 CET] <aiena> windows
[20:05:54 CET] <dystopia_> the input file there is already mp3
[20:06:08 CET] <dystopia_> ffmpeg -i ./Nemo.mp3
[20:06:19 CET] <aiena> hmm mp3 is the file extension
[20:06:37 CET] <aiena> but vlc reported codec a mp2 i think
[20:06:42 CET] <aiena> and wouldnt play it
[20:06:53 CET] <aiena> how do I know what the file extension really is
[20:06:56 CET] <JEEB> sounds like something is throwing stuff off
[20:07:07 CET] <JEEB> well the extension is what it is, but what's really in there is a separate discussion :P
[20:07:14 CET] <fritsch> let's guess
[20:07:16 CET] <aiena> indeed
[20:07:22 CET] <aiena> i found this file weird
[20:07:24 CET] <fritsch> i guess: a proprietary song from itunes
[20:07:37 CET] <JEEB> well if mplayer could play it...
[20:07:41 CET] <JEEB> that's not likely
[20:07:47 CET] <fritsch> it does?
[20:07:54 CET] <aiena> mplayer's libmad plays it with it mpeg library
[20:07:57 CET] <fritsch> then ffprobe would be nice to know
[20:08:00 CET] <JEEB> < aiena> mplayer can play the file
[20:08:21 CET] <dystopia_> can you open the file in media info
[20:08:38 CET] <aiena> in media info as in
[20:08:43 CET] <dystopia_> and then do view -> text and spam the output on pastebin
[20:08:50 CET] <aiena> didnt get you is media info a binary
[20:08:50 CET] <dystopia_> the program called "media info"
[20:09:01 CET] <aiena> hmm I am on linux is it a linux program
[20:09:10 CET] <JEEB> it can be gotten on most distros
[20:09:11 CET] <aiena> you were giving windows references last time i think
[20:09:14 CET] <dystopia_> https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
[20:09:14 CET] <aiena> ok
[20:09:15 CET] <JEEB> it's also a cli program
[20:09:17 CET] <dystopia_> oh
[20:09:21 CET] <fritsch> opensuse should provide it
[20:09:27 CET] <dystopia_> sorry im a windows user
[20:09:30 CET] <dystopia_> :p
[20:09:37 CET] <dystopia_> but would still be intrested in the output
[20:09:39 CET] <fritsch> yeah - but mediainfo also exists there
[20:09:40 CET] <aiena> looking at it
[20:10:24 CET] <JEEB> anyways, mediainfo has its flaws (in many cases more than libavformat/-codec), but it's another case of checking things out. also ffprobe with defining the input format as mp2 with "-f mp2" could be interesting
[20:10:29 CET] <aiena> ok spamming the result one sec
[20:10:32 CET] <JEEB> nonono
[20:10:34 CET] <aiena> getting the package installed
[20:10:34 CET] <JEEB> pastebin
[20:10:36 CET] <JEEB> always pastebin
[20:10:40 CET] <aiena> lol
[20:10:46 CET] <aiena> spamming the result not here
[20:10:54 CET] <aiena> I dont want to get banned or inconvieneice folks
[20:11:03 CET] <aiena> spamming in irc may be ok in a PM max
[20:12:14 CET] <aiena> hmm it is am mp3 file
[20:12:21 CET] <aiena> as per media info
[20:12:28 CET] <aiena> and urther encoded in lame
[20:12:34 CET] <aiena> huh why cant ffmpeg pick it up
[20:12:49 CET] <JEEB> so ffprobe can't say anything?
[20:12:54 CET] <JEEB> if you poke it with it?
[20:12:56 CET] <aiena> http://paste.opensuse.org/42cbdce6
[20:13:35 CET] <aiena> no
[20:13:49 CET] <aiena> if I just say ffprobe /path/to/file
[20:14:14 CET] <JEEB> you can make a bug report with it on the trac, I guess there's either a) garbage stuff in the file or b) the mpeg-1 layer 3 parser has a boog
[20:14:34 CET] <JEEB> I'm so happy that we mostly stopped using raw bit streams after MPEG-1 Layer 3 :P
[20:14:39 CET] <aiena> JEEB: http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/2a567d3e
[20:14:58 CET] <JEEB> yeah, I recommend making a bug report on trac and attaching that as sample
[20:15:33 CET] <aiena> ok only issue is I dont know from where my freind got that mp3 from
[20:15:50 CET] <aiena> just that the output of ffmpeg intrigued me enough to inspect it more
[20:16:00 CET] <aiena> because ffmpeg is amazing otherwise
[20:16:08 CET] <JEEB> you can dd the first 500KiB or so?
[20:16:13 CET] <JEEB> see if that also makes it happen
[20:16:15 CET] <aiena> is that enough
[20:16:18 CET] <aiena> for analysis
[20:16:21 CET] <JEEB> if the same thing happens, yes
[20:16:33 CET] <aiena> hmm
[20:16:46 CET] <aiena> dont know how to do dd like that
[20:17:07 CET] <aiena> dd if=foo.mp3 of=op.mp3 bs=4M
[20:17:18 CET] <aiena> and what else to limit it to first 500 k
[20:17:32 CET] <JEEB> yeah, you will have to set bs to 500KiB, don't remember the suffix for that
[20:17:33 CET] <aiena> i've normally only dd'd isos etc
[20:17:35 CET] <JEEB> and then count=1
[20:17:42 CET] <aiena> k
[20:17:44 CET] <JEEB> that way it takes bs * 1
[20:17:52 CET] <aiena> count=1 is ewhat i wanted to know
[20:18:04 CET] <aiena> or I could upload first one mb
[20:18:11 CET] <aiena> guess id3 tag will go in the process
[20:18:53 CET] <JEEB> just make sure the sample makes it happen as well
[20:19:03 CET] <JEEB> if it's replicate'able, it's good
[20:19:31 CET] <JEEB> preferably not only the PNG stuff but also some audio samples, too
[20:20:10 CET] <newbie|4> sorry got disconnected
[20:20:20 CET] <JEEB> 21:19 < JEEB> just make sure the sample makes it happen as well
[20:20:20 CET] <JEEB> 21:19 < JEEB> if it's replicate'able, it's good
[20:20:20 CET] <JEEB> 21:20 < JEEB> preferably not only the PNG stuff but also some audio samples, too
[20:20:48 CET] <newbie|4> JEEB: it is an audio file
[20:20:53 CET] <newbie|4> no video content in it
[20:21:02 CET] <newbie|4> dont know what you mean by PNG stuff
[20:21:24 CET] <fritsch> there is a cover in the file
[20:21:39 CET] <fritsch> now do the dd command he said and upload that somewhere, please
[20:21:41 CET] <aiena> yes
[20:21:45 CET] <aiena> sure
[20:24:07 CET] <aiena> can you'll file the bug report I'll upload the file
[20:24:17 CET] <aiena> made a 1mb sample mediainfo, file plays back
[20:24:45 CET] <aiena> hmm wait
[20:26:13 CET] <aiena> JEEB: here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3pPXUAP0TBMR3E4OWhrMWc1MnM/view?usp=sharing
[20:27:53 CET] <aiena> yup and ffpprobe gives same output on 1mb sample
[20:28:07 CET] <aiena> can you'll file the bug report
[20:28:11 CET] <aiena> need to sleep
[20:28:16 CET] <aiena> merry christmas
[20:36:24 CET] <Sorunome> Hey, I have this issue: I have this 12h long input video at 25FPS and I want to speed it up to about 6-7min, 60FPS. For that I used `ffmpeg -i paint_full_nosound.mkv -vf "setpts=(1/100)*PTS" -r 60 paint_speed.mkv` but the output file is invalid, as in, VLC isn't able to play back the output, if i put it into my video editor it crashes. So, is that the correct way to speed up a vid? Am I doing something wrong?
[20:53:14 CET] <tmm1> is there a send_field equivalent for the deinterlacers in libpostproc?
[22:09:24 CET] <Muessigb> hello!
[22:09:39 CET] <Muessigb> i have a video file that has a broken start segment
[22:09:53 CET] <Muessigb> it is reported to be 25 hours long
[22:09:55 CET] <Muessigb> but its not
[22:10:05 CET] <Muessigb> its 1h 16 min and 01 secs long
[22:10:21 CET] <Muessigb> when playing it in vlc it starts at 25h 14m 52s
[22:10:30 CET] <Muessigb> is there any way to fix this with ffmpeg
[22:10:58 CET] <Muessigb> the file plays correctly, but is there a way to skip the beginning until vaild video is found?
[22:11:49 CET] <JEEB> you could try remuxing it with various tools
[22:12:42 CET] <Muessigb> yes
[22:12:51 CET] <Muessigb> is it possible with ffmpeg?
[22:13:01 CET] <Muessigb> to skip the broken beginning
[22:13:06 CET] <Muessigb> the file plays fine in ffplay
[22:13:21 CET] <Muessigb> but when supplying it to ffmpeg, it dies
[22:13:30 CET] <Muessigb> "Error while opening encoder for output stream #0:0 - maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height"
[22:13:48 CET] <Muessigb> i supplied the bare minimum to convert it to mp4
[22:13:58 CET] <Muessigb> i dont really care about the codec right now
[22:14:03 CET] <Muessigb> currently its MPEG
[22:14:14 CET] <Muessigb> mpeg2video ac3 audio
[22:14:23 CET] <Muessigb> i just want to fix the file
[22:14:28 CET] <Muessigb> then i can do the rest easily
[22:15:07 CET] <JEEB> ffmpeg -i input -map 0:v -map 0:a -c copy out.ts
[22:15:08 CET] <JEEB> try this
[22:15:18 CET] <JEEB> although it might copy out the broken stuff as well
[22:15:47 CET] <JEEB> for MPEG-TS or PS I might even recommend a hex editor / dd if you know exactly where the good samples start
[22:17:17 CET] <Muessigb> hmm
[22:17:18 CET] <Muessigb> Could not write header for output file #0 (incorrect codec parameters ?): Error number -22 occurred
[22:18:41 CET] <Muessigb> i originally created this 1:1 dvd copy with vlc
[22:18:48 CET] <Muessigb> i hope its not lost :(
[22:19:32 CET] <Muessigb> be back soon
[22:23:26 CET] <waressearcher2> Frohe Weihnachten
[23:31:00 CET] <rjp421> how do i make ffmpeg listen on 0.0.0.0:1234 instead of localhost:80 when encoding to mjpeg?
[23:31:41 CET] <waressearcher2> wirklich ?
