Hmm, for those who couldn't reproduce it, which platform/arch did you
attempt to reproduce on? This to me sounds like it might be a bug that only
appears on Darwin/PPC, or manifests itself quite differently on different
platforms/archs (Ah, the joys of remembering back to my OS classes and
having to debug code on different archs to see how different the symptoms
were). I will see if I can reproduce it myself tonight.

Well it seems the results vary greatly between ppl, but at least i'm
not the only one :D
