xorg-server: 32 minutes, 16 seconds for 6 merges
xf86-video-ati: 3 minutes, 59 seconds for 4 merges
xf86-input-keyboard: 51 seconds for 3 merges
mesa: 7 minutes, 25 seconds for 3 merges
I think xorg isn't that bad once you build just what you need, isn't it?
You may look at the kdrive implementation for something even smaller.
tested on a g4 so gcc isn't that speed demon...
