as should scream on you for the vN vectors, codectest succeeded with my
changes, but I cannot tell if is gcc-4.1 working fine or what.

I can check with gcc-4.1 fsf in the evening. I guess I should eventually
 mess a bit with you performance counter infrastructure or just put some
compat timers as I did before.
