As Roman points out, this is one of those things that will require
extensive testing on different pieces of equipment. Otherwise you're
going to get "ping-pong" where a patch fixes one person's decoding but
breaks someone else's...

(for example, APT must be 1 in DVCPRO50 streams in order for Apple's
Quicktime player to recognize them as DVCPRO50. I don't know if that
is actually written in any spec. Other decoders probably have similar
quirks).
