Well, the renaming of the API has been done, now we can proceed with the
changes to sequences themselves. We were waiting for comments, but none
seem to be coming. The decision to make now is a choice between:
A. Drop support of %-sequences for input, in favor of @url with the
special case @-; relying on the shell for wildcards and numbering (using
seq). This breaks existing scripts, notably php, and is asymetric w.r.t.
output sequences where only % can be supported.
A var 1. Since only cataloged sequences are supported, the @ sign is not
really necessary. But the difference between input and output sequences
becomes even more confusing.
B. Keep %-sequences for input and output, add @-sequences (incl. @- for
stdin). This respects existing scripts, but will be more code.
Overall I tend to favor B. What do you think?
