iam not disagreeing here but we cannot count (dis)agreement from people who
stay silent
silent disagreement is indistingiushable from silent agreement, we base
our actions in ffmpeg-dev generally on the assumtation that silence equals
consent, that is no complaint means noone disagrees

true, but this doesnt apply to maintainers, they cannot sidestep their duty
or at least i dont want to
just consider
someone sends a patch, i review it and ask a few questions and ask for some
changes, should i now ignore the author when he starts to complain about
my questions? i dont think this would do any good, it rather would make him
even more angry
a maintainer (or root) cannot just ignore requests and comments which he
consideres flames

my consent

When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty, and
there is nothing more to fear from them, then he is always stirring up
some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader. -- Plato
