I think we should drop vendor specific stuff here too (dvcpro*, hdv1080 and 
hdcam) and think of a generic name for 1440x1080 which is used by a variety 
of vendors. Also, hd480 is some apple qt format and not really HD if you 
ask me. Maybe it could be dropped too.

Yes :) so I think if I ever add such short-hands, I'll limit it to defined 
standards and common formats only.
