yes i thought that goes without saying ...
its really just
check_ldflags -Bsymbolic
configure will then automagically do the testing and adding ...
but i dont have x86_64, dont use PIC dont use shared lav* so someone else
should test it ...

Its not that you shouldnt use gotos but rather that you should write
readable code and code with gotos often but not always is less readable
