Agreed, just as long as the student has some complete, open, free specs
to operate from.

Note: A number of people have proposed binary reverse engineering
projects for GSoC projects. Ambitious, to be sure, but I think it's
completely unreasonable to ask a student to perform this, mostly from a
technical perspective. To say nothing of the questionable legal aspect.
