Perhaps, but now, thanks to your help, I can submit a
patch to the documentation that says something like:

`-deinterlace'  Deinterlace pictures. Use this to
remove the "comb" effect in videos, and produce a
smoother, more normal-looking picture.

Unless you want to do it...
