make sure you set -tvstd in the BEGINNING in command line.
this is some stupid undocumented behaviour, that isn't self intuitive
for normal users. 


As undocumented by beginning would it be

Ffmpeg -tvstd -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0 etc

or

Ffmpeg  -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0 etc -tvstd
