FFmpeg doesn't have any autogenerated files that need to be included
in a tarball for distribution. That's sort of the point with
autogenerated files.

That's true for any release of any piece of software. Having a "dist"
target will not alter that.

Fortunately, I do maintain the FFmpeg build system.

Try that with FFmpeg from SVN head. Anything older is irrelevant
since your patch won't be affecting it.
