Ok; I committed my patches. Some work still needs to be done in udp_open(),
but I have no time right now. If noone else works on it, I'll have a look
this afternoon.

In the meanwhile, it would be good to have some feedback from windows and
beos users. I tested all my patches on linux, and they do not seem to break
anything, but some testing on other system would be great.
