I do not mind others doing this if they immedeatly clean it up afterwards

I do not ask others to do this, diego very commonly fixes typos and
similar in my code, loren also has more than once commited with no patch.
and there are many more ...
You are really applying your own rules here. It never was accepted practice
to send patches for trivial and obviously correct fixes.
