While of course entirely your decision, I think this is unfortunate.
Some small parts of libavcodec are already GPL, but if more and more
parts become GPL the situation gets ever more complicated.  It would
be preferable for the licensing situation to be as simple as possible.

That said, I prefer having your optimizations under GPL than not have
them at all.
