This used to bother me too. But I guarantee that it DOES work right now, 
and has for at least the last 3 months. FATE uses this feature many 
times each day ( http://fate.multimedia.cx/ ).

Or is this only a problem when building on Windows (haven't been 
watching the whole thread)?
