I think there is a vocabulary mistake in your message that causes some
confusion to the discussion. Monotonic means "either increasing or
decreasing". For example, "1 2 3 4 1000 1000 10000 10001 10002" is
monotonic, as is the reversed sequence. On the other hand, "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6
8 9 10" is not monotonic.
I believe what you meant is that this format has no constant framerate.
