What about a struct in AVStream?
It could be allocated and set only if the muxer is of some given type
(implementable through a flag) then a function could parse the
filename and fill it in av_new_stream()
Maybe something like AVUrl may do the trick.

Doh! I really meant AVFormatContext!

I wonder if this feature could be useful in the RTP muxer too,
implementing the same logic for assigning the port to the various
elementary streams.
It makes sense to me for example define something like this:
ffmpeg -i test.mpeg -f rtp rtp://localhost:5004
where the resulting RTP output format also contains a video stream.
