I don't know why those people use field coding for interlaced H.264 in 
HD-camcorders, but the fact is, they do. I've checked with Panasonic, 
Canon and Sony camcorders. They all seem to produce field-coded 
interlaced movies (i.e., each frame is coded as two separate field 
pictures).

My Panasonic camcorder can also record in 25p cinema mode. In this case, 
it produces frame-coded progressive movies (i.e., it uses frame picture 
in H.264 instead of two field pictures per frame).

Anyway, since I want to use it, I'm going to fix it somehow. Just don't 
know really how, since both solutions I thought about are not 
particularly good.
