Sources, as fun as they are, are still not supported by the command
line.

But we could conceive a filter which simply discards the input and
draw to the output.

BTW what you say would be also achievable extending the various
filters, we may have something of the kind:

"random, format=random, scale=w=100 + (200 * random) : h = 100 + (200 * random)"

Also, what would be the point of a random filter if we can't use a
reference against its output?
