I am not part of FFmpeg project. 

This project seems very nice as long as it owns the website and allows
funding. But you should not consider making copyright assignment.

Presently, by copyright law, especially by European law, FFmpeg is a
common work owned by hundreds of contributors, separately. Assigning
copyright to a US based structure would weaken FFmpeg as it would make
only one owner.
