its that container formats often do lack the most basic information ...
users just see a dependancy.
But i do not think users would be happier if lavf would simply
only provide them with whats really stored at the container layer,
very little could be relied on to be available everywhere.

for lavf without lavc first AVParsers would have to be moved from
lavc to lavf and maybe we would need a lib that contains common code
between lavf&lavc (i would prefer not to misuse lavu for that, as its
purpose as a generic utils lib is different)
but note, from what i remember i asked fabrice when he implemented
AVParsers to move them to lavf and he apparently hit some issues
with that but i dont remember details ATM
