I may re-use this code in MythTV ...

I could take the whole re-order / downmix ; completely outside of
ffmpeg ... Would be much easier that way...

That advantage of doing it in ffmpeg within the codec obviously is
that there's one less read/copy ; so will always be a bit faster than
when done outside
