I like the idea.  Most of the time I spend managing my music collection
has to do with keeping metadata complete and consistent between all of
my various sources (eMusic, free downloads, CD rips, etc...).  It would
be useful to backup the metadata separately, and this seems like a great
way to archive/restore it in a format-neutral way.

Does matroska already have something like this?  Or is there some other
standard way of doing this that would be adequate for our needs so that
we wouldn't have to create our own internal format?
