[FFmpeg-devel] MOV vs MP4

Hello all, 

          May be this is not right place to discuss this question. But since ffmpeg already has a MOV/MP4 muxer i would like to ask this question.
          Please can any one help me what exacly is the distiguishing factor between MOV and MP4. (Every where it just mentions MP4 is superior to MOV). Does MOV hav some extra atoms or so that MOV file cannot hav. I need the file comparision details, since i get a feeling both are almost same.
