Thanks for your comments. In my efforts to provide a sample, I played the
affected VOB file by itself and the problem is unreproducible both using
ffplay and mythtv. Only when its run through the dvd's program chains, does
the problem occur. Based on your comments I'll do some more digging to find
out why the initial audio packets are decoded with the wrong codec when
played as a dvd. the problem affects a very small percentage of dvds I got
and it only appeared when the PCM_DVD codec was introduced.
