Your code have issues with XShm, eg. it worked some time but than it stoped
and i have only black window.

Btw: you can see what xv code in mpv/mplayer2/mplayer do.

That code is also far more readable.

Also some ASSERT macros are purely redudant. Also ASSERT is wrong name because
it does not assert, but just returns.

There is no need to use macros for error checking, see mpv/mpla... code again...
