I believe it makes more sense than adding additional 
code like an extension match.

Assuming you are offering a contract to a possible 
"user" of the library, I believe this only makes 
sense if you claim copyright on a file, if you 
don't claim copyright, there is nobody whose rights 
a violator could violate on the file (IANAL).
