[FFmpeg-devel] Best audio format for lossless decompression?

I'm working on a decompression library for a widely supported lossless
codec, the only probelm is there aren't any open source decoders, hence the
library, my question is, which format should I extract the mystery format
from, and convert into so everyone can edit the audio easily, that also
supports 4GB+ files, and 7.1+ channels? (so there goes WAVE)
