i dont think the design is confusing, but i agree we could take old
repos like ffmpeg-mt off of the download page. maybe move it to a

that section used to be called 'developer repositories' , it was changed
to extra repositories somewhere and lost meaning i think. thats why
they were listed instead of 599 github forks. since those repos were
added, many of those changes have been merged (ffmpeg-mt , vda, etc).
so yes they are 'dead' now because its merged. i agree inactive repos
that have been merged may not belong on the download page.

is it time to have the whole 'active developer' and 'admin' bikeshed
again?
i'll review further after test building this.
