Which - if I am correct - is plain wrong (or at 
least only the second-best option).

Of course I may be wrong (I cannot test atm) but if 
deinterleaving does not lead to funny results (in 
which case a more complicated filtergraph could be 
used) it will be faster than yadif and will lead to 
better results quality-wise.
