If you don't create the stream, the mpegps demuxer will create one.
Can't you simply map the internal streams to the outer ones by using the
stream's id (and also check that the codec_type, codec_id are what you
expect them to be)?
(Your current code would btw not work if the mpegps demuxer created
streams on its own in its read_header callback.)
