It was, but some of our AltiVec acceleration was adapted for little-endian
configurations and/or converted to VSX.

POWER (and by extension, PowerPC) have always been capable of either
endianness but were traditionally shipped/supported only as big-endian
until the POWER8 (ISA 2.07) in 2014.
