These mails simply leave me confused:
- Why is Michael asking what my profession is?
We are employed by the same company, which has fewer employees than
you can count on two hands.
- Why am I asking for root access?
Distribution of responsibilities and ease of mind for me and the
community. The FFmpeg infrastructure is a complete black hole and
preivously I wanted to document it publicly for the community but
found that it was not possible to do so without access to actually
check myself.
I don't really care if it's me or Marvin or someone else that I know
who attends events and is easily contactable and is interested in
opening up the infrastructure in general.
- Why am I not being held to the same standard as Michael with regards
to privacy?
I simply prefer not to have my photo taken. The same can be said for
Michael, no? I have physically attended FFmpeg, VideoLan, and FOSS
events for almost a decade, any members of the community who have
attended these events know what I look like.
- Why is Compn concerned with my prior work history and what bearing
does this have on my ability to perform maintenance and other duties?
More sad or funny or maybe both, but having met Compn in the previous
VDD and spent the community day in the same team hunting around the
city, I maybe somewhat expected to get the benefit of the doubt. I'm
just confused as to why this is a question at all.
I certainly enjoyed my time with him, and learning more about the
early days of the project (of which I was obviously not involved). But
it also highlighted to me further how fragmented our infrastructure
is. Distribution and redundancy is of course preferred and what I am
trying to achieve, but it doesn't work if the parts don't know about
each other or choose not to work with each other.
