As somebody who participated in that thread and made similar arguments, I find 
the response utterly ridiculous. What is even supposed to be provocative in 
that response? It is curt, perhaps dismissive - but then again, it is also a 
neutrally expressed opinion backed by actual experience.

I fail to see anything "unnecessarily" provocative. The only part of it which 
is truly unnecessary without losing the meaning is the word "even", which 
hardly makes a difference to the tonality.

If the CC finds it provocative to say that a task is easy or of low financial 
value, then I can only logically infer that the CC is abusing its trust to 
push an agenda which disagrees with not only Derek's opinions but also his 
empirical findings. Marvin already pointed it out, but when you put it in 
perspective, this is blatant double standards and (a vain attempt at) 
censorship.


Now here is a very simple guideline for CC member: if your decision can't 
stand public scrutinity, it is probably not a good decision.
