I disagree.

There are people who have specialty areas.
They are the de facto leaders of their domains.
If you gave me constructive feedback on a patch in your domain, I’d look at
you as a technical thought leader in the space.

There is also a Technical Committee.
People can say what they want about the TC, but it’s there. We spent time
voting for them. They spend significant time in this project.

Why can’t they be considered technical leaders?
