[FFmpeg-user] ffmpeg compand knobs problem

Ah, yes of course - I forgot about the "copy" setting. ($ ffmpeg -i
day7.mpg -c:a copy -c:v libx264 -preset slow -crf 32 -f mp4 day7.mp4)
resulted in a video file with very clean audio flow. The file size is also
significantly reduced (roughly 85%): day7.mpg 3.0G, day7.mp4 352M.

Any ideas as to why audio becomes corrupted when transformed? Neither input
file nor output file (one created above) have any audible "background
noise".
