for testing, there is test.c in CVS, it will decode and send PCM samples to
stdout. so you can compare optimized and C version's output, or you can play
back it with 'play' from program 'sox'.

i've uploaded 2.0, 2.1 and 5.1 sample files to 
ftp://mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/samples/AC3-samples/
and asked Walked (liba52 author) to upload his sample suite too.
