It's not truth. Suse's XFree86-4.1.0-release has additional patches to support Radeon VE
but only through DVI port.
mplayer/main/driver/radeon/radeonfb currently supports VE chip on both - CRT and DVI ports
but lacks TVout support. Althrough CRT port on radeonfb requires additional investigation
but if TVout will work perfectly it will don't matter.
