Gtk 1.2 doesn't print anything like this in gtk-config --cflags and without -malign-double, gui version compiles and runs just fine (well, except that all the dialog windows stay below all the other windows and can't be raised but it's caused by something else :) ). I also tried to scan a few gtk using build directories on my drive for -malign, without success.
