The uclibc website reports that mplayer works fine with it as long as
you disable locale. I haven't tried uclibc myself, but I'm hoping to
at some point in the future once the ABI stabilizes so I don't break
everything when I upgrade shared libs. A friend just installed uclibc
on his old P120 and cut the resident size of most common programs in
half (or better!), so I think it's definitely worth keeping an eye on!

And...I'm not sure about whether mplayer works with libc5, but yes,
it's apparently still in use...
