I don't think there is any point in not documenting such a feature or any
feature FWIW.  If you have enough technical knowledge to know about
colorspaces, you can use this feature or know that you don't need it.  If
you don't, you'll never touch it anyway.  Besides, it's just about being
clear in the documentation what the intent of an option is.
