I once (about a year ago or so) did that. It requires iirc
2 steps: compile mplayer on the host system to acuire those binaries,
then copy them over and tell make not to build them.

It would be of course better if we would distinguish between
target and host compiler and binaries.

Unfortunately i neither had the time nor knowlege about configre
or the buildsystem to do it then.
