maybe you should look also at arch.

some projects (xorg for example) decided that they won't switch to
subversion,
because it's not that much better than cvs.
i mean, subversion is definitively better (atomic comits, move/renames
handled),
but maybe you should make a bigger step, and use something like arch or
monotone.

arch seems to be quite stable, some subparts of xorg use it already.
the good thing in arch (or in arch-like systems) is that it's a
distributed system..
every devel can develop on his own ...branch.-like thing....  and so on.

subversion's plan was to create a better cvs.
arch's plan is/was to create a better version-control system.
