Has I said, yes all darwin system have perl, its needed for system  
operation.

It was possible not to add the perl_check function and call it  
directly when needed
but this way it could be use for other thing in the future.

I agree this patch is not so clean but unless i can figure out a new  
way to do that it will have to
stay. There is an other way to make the check but I thinks its not  
supported on older osx release
and darwin. Anyone can figure out a way to do the same xml file  
parsing without perl? that would be great.
