Which is why I still don't know whether Takeshi or Kitano is the family
name:

Google:
"takeshi kitano"	2,090,000 hits
"kitano takeshi" 309,000 hits

One would think the former is the preffered way of writing his name, but
wikipedia says:

Takeshi Kitano (北野 武, Kitano Takeshi, b. January 18, 1947)

which makes me think the former is the "Western" order and the latter is how
it is written in Japan.

So, which is right? This has been boggling me for years :)

On topic: I don't really care in which order the names are laid out in the
authors file. With some people having the same first name, I always look
very carfefully anyway if it's the person I am looking for. I remember when
my name got added, there was some confusion. At first it was listed as "Ivo
van Poorten" (sorted at I) and now it is listed as "van Poorten, Ivo" (but
sorted at P, not v, which is good) and in our national phonebook it is
listed as "Poorten, Ivo van" (sorted at P) :-) Anyway, as long as everybody
is in there in a readable characterset, I am fine with it.
