Please realize that you have zero chance to know what other people will
think about it. If a change is controversial or not is something nobody
can know, that's why there's the rule to send patches to the list first.
An exception is of course code maintained by you, and I'd say to a certain
degree unmaintained code (for "trivial" fixes).
I think the rules have a good reason to be as they are, but are of
course open to discussion. Though I personally would not start such a
discussion in the first week after getting CVS access.
So, if you think I made my position already clear, just tell me and I'll
stop annoying you with more mails saying the same thing *g*
