Ok. What do you suggest?

1. Have configure check for major=0, minor=9 and subminor>=1, drop support 
for alsa-lib versions < 0.9.1 and force people to upgrade.

2. Have a few #if's in ao_alsa? (probably just check version <= 0x000901 

3. Something else?

Since we still support alsa 0.5 even, I opt for option 2. Knowing that 
Mandrake always had packages of cutting-edge releases, there are probably a 
lot of people that still have alsa 0.9.0 with other two to three year old 
installs (Red hat? Debian?).

In any case, compilation and linking should not fail after someone ran 
configure, so something should be changed IMHO :)
